01 Our commitment
Smelldar has a zero-tolerance policy toward any content or conduct that sexually exploits or abuses minors. Any such content will be removed immediately and reported to the relevant authorities.
Smelldar is an environmental reporting app. Its purpose is to allow users to anonymously report bad smells associated with pollution, industrial discharge, and environmental negligence. The app is not a social platform, does not support direct messaging, and does not allow users to share images or files. These design choices inherently limit the surface area for misuse.
This document sets out our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), in accordance with applicable platform guidelines and legal obligations.
02 Prohibited content and conduct
The following are strictly prohibited on Smelldar and will result in immediate account removal:
Any content that sexually exploits or abuses minors (CSAM), including but not limited to images, text descriptions, or links.
Any attempt to groom, solicit, or engage a minor in sexual communication or conduct.
Any content that promotes, glorifies, or normalises the sexual abuse or exploitation of children.
Using the app's comment or report features to distribute, reference, or link to CSAE material of any kind.
03 Prevention measures
Smelldar is designed to minimise the risk of CSAE by its core architecture:
No direct messaging — users cannot contact each other privately. All communication is public and tied to environmental reports.
No media uploads — users cannot upload images, videos, or files of any kind.
Anonymous short-lived content — report clusters and comments expire after 24 hours, limiting the persistence of any harmful content.
No user discovery — users are identified only by randomly generated codenames. There is no search, follow, or friend system.
Text length limits — comments are limited in length, reducing the ability to include detailed harmful content.
Row-level security — all data access is controlled server-side. Users cannot modify content submitted by others.
04 How to report
If you encounter content on Smelldar that you believe constitutes child sexual abuse or exploitation, please report it immediately:
Email:[email protected] — include a description of the content and, if possible, the location or codename associated with it.
Subject line: use "CSAE Report" so the message is prioritised.
You may also report CSAE material directly to your national authority:
